The ELDA (English Language Development Assessment) is given in the spring to all students in the state of South Carolina who have a language other than English spoken in their home. After a student scores a composite of  5 (fluent) on all four sections (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) for one year, he or she will not have to take the test again.
