Reading Counts:  We are excited about our reading incentive program, Scholastic's Reading Counts. Students are given the SRI (Scholastic Reading Inventory) at the beginning of the year in the computer lab, and read books in their Lexile range.  They take quizzes on their books and are allowed a second attempt if they do not pass the first time.  As each quiz pulls ten questions from a bank of thirty questions, no two quizzes are alike. To find out more about Reading Counts and Lexile, visit these two websites:

Birthday/Special Recognition Book Club: Students, faculty members, and parents are now participating in our special recognition book club!  Would you like to donate a book to the LCE Media Center in honor of your child’s birthday, a special occasion such as the birth of a baby, a wedding, a teacher’s birthday, or simply to honor someone?  We now have a selection of books that you can choose from ranging in price from $8 to $20.  Simply come by the media center to select and purchase your book.  We will put a book plate in the front naming the honored person and occasion, and we will have the child/honoree come on the morning show to be recognized.  The child can then be the first person to check out this new book!
