Dr. Jackie Norton, Principal
Jaqueline Norton has been working in the field of education for the past 26 years. She began her career as a teacher at Jackson Elementary School in Kershaw County serving for 8 years as a fifth grade teacher. She completed another 5 years at Lugoff Elementary School teaching both 4th and 5th grades. After teaching for 13 years, she spent five years of her career as an Assistant Principal at Camden Elementary School before transitioning to Lake Carolina Lower in 2015.
She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina, and went on to complete a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University. Lastly, she received a Doctorate of Education from Gardner-Webb University.
She has been married for the past 25 years to Jack Norton Jr., and they reside in Columbia. She is a huge Gamecock and Dallas Cowboy fan, enjoys reading, spending time with family, and attends Sutton Branch Baptist Church in Lugoff, South Carolina.
Dr. Norton is elated to be a member of the Lake Carolina family. She considers it an honor to be a Gator and serve the teachers, students, and community.
Ms. Dina Knight, Assistant Principal
Dina Knight has been an educator for the past 10 years. She began her career as a teacher as a third grade teacher at Lake Carolina Elementary, for 2 years. When the school divided into 2 campuses in 2014, she moved to the upper campus, where she taught for 7 years. While teaching at the Upper Campus, she was awarded Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year.
Mrs. Knight obtained her Bachelor of Art degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina. In 2016 she later went on to receive her Masters in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
She has been married to her husband Chris Knight for 11 years, and together they have 3 children, Maggie, Peyton and Bailey. In Mrs. Knight’s spare time she enjoys going to Carolina football games to cheer on her Gamecocks, as well as boating and vacationing with her family.
Mrs. Knight is thrilled at the opportunity to serve her school and community in a different capacity as Assistant Principal. She will work diligently to ensure students, staff, teachers and parents most definitely sail beyond excellence.
Mr. Kristopher Thomas, Assistant Principal
Kristopher I. Thomas is a dedicated and accomplished educator who has made significant contributions to Richland School District Two. He began his teaching career as a third-grade teacher at Catawba Trail Elementary School before transitioning to Langford Elementary School. Prior to joining Lake Carolina Elementary School, he served as Assistant Principal at Millwood Elementary School in the Sumter School District.
Mr. Thomas has been recognized throughout his career for his unwavering commitment to education and leadership. He has served as an Ambassador for the Premier 100 initiative, an APPLE mentor teacher, and was honored as Rookie Teacher of the Year by H&R Block.
Mr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Early Childhood Education from Claflin University, a Master of Education, and an Educational Specialist degree from South Carolina State University. He also earned a Master’s degree in Literacy with a concentration in Multilingual Education from Clemson University.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Thomas is actively involved in ministry work within his church, enjoys traveling, and cherishes quality time with family and friends. He is deeply passionate about servant leadership and committed to fostering success for students and educators within the Lake Carolina community.
Mr. Thomas is excited to bring his enthusiasm, expertise, and dedication to creating a thriving and supportive educational environment.
